A Perfect Failure

Biography

A Perfect Failure

A Perfect Failure was originally named Beginning The End and was formed in 2005 from two smaller project bands, Monera and In Raining Pain. Early members of the band include Aaron and Jackson who were both drummers for a short while. The band now consists of Monera members Brian (Guitar), and Travis (Bass), In Raining Pain members Josh (Drums) and Tony (Vocals), and newcomer Anthony (Guitar)

A Perfect Failure’s music is best described as a mix of metal and hardcore, sounding very much like From Autumn To Ashes and Silverstein. Their music has the power to bring forth a plethora of emotions ranging from anger to joy to devastation with songs that are humorous, ironic, suicidal, and even some nonsensical. They write about what they’re really feeling, and it is clearly reflected in their music. Songs change from the point of view, person to person and situation to situation, leaving you with a wide variety of emotion and style in their songs.

Growing up I was always around a large variety of music, ranging form Simply Red to Marylin Manson and Deana Carter to Bone Thugs and Harmony. I always loved all forms of music and musical expression and what can I say anymore besides the fact that I live for it, it’s in my blood and it holds my bones together. Nothing serious happened musically in my life until I was out of High School and developed some balls to just go for it. Not to mention I met Josh and we have been working together ever since.

We started with an industrial project and evoked a vocal bond that now-a-days, rocks the metal-hardcore genre. The next project was In Raining Pain who played there first show at St. Andrews Hall. The band was a blast but we just couldn’t keep it together. Here I am today vocalist of A Perfect Failure. We are gonna rock your fucking socks.

Influenced by everything between Killswitch Engage and Trivium to Panic! At The Disco and Incubus. My music interests are all over the place. Music has been a big part of my life since I was about 14 years old, which is also when I started playing guitar. It wasn’t until a couple of years later that I got serious about it when I joined the band Flesh Worx. They were an industrial band with the music already written.

I’ve never stuck with any band for too long though. There’s always been some sort of complication that prevents this. Soon after, I wrote allot of my solo stuff and got other people involved in it, we turned into Deceiving Life’s Confusion. DLC had quite the name for themselves in the Ypsi/Detroit area. Playing shows almost every weekend, it’s not too hard to find new fans. We got as far as winning a battle of the bands, which allowed us to play with the bands Dope and Dog Fashion Disco. DLC, shortly after, broke up. We were never able to work with each other very well.

After that, I went between allot of different projects including Between Life And A Dream, NWP, Destined Fate, My Day Of Reckoning, The Remaining Few, and In Raining Pain. Working with A Perfect Failure, though, has had the best vibe and best group of people I’ve ever worked with. That’s something that I’m not willing to give up on.

Music isn’t the only thing that interests me, although it consumes most of my time with me knowing how to play drums, guitar, bass, vocals, and programming electronic. I’m also really big into film and photography. It is my goal to do something semi major in all of these categories within the next 5 years.

I started playing guitar when I was 14 1/2 years old, after I heard the band Children of Bodom for the first time. I listen to all sorts of metal, but mainly Black metal and Death metal. Non of that influence is really shown in my songwriting. Most of my inspiration came from Brian’s riffs when he and I formed this band. After he got me started writing, I just sort of wrote stuff with no single inspiration in mind, the ideas just sort of formed themselves.

I started playing guitar with one of my friends just so we could start a band and make chicks take off their tops…. and after that didn’t pan out I just kept playing cause I love music. I am playing the Bass guitar and I am the third Vocalist of A Perfect Failure. I wasn’t originally too interested in playing bass because I’m actually a guitarist, but for the style of music we are playing I’m loving it. It lets me get outside my normal style and try new things.

My inspirations are Metallica, Trivium, As I Lay Dying and a lot of other bands like the Spice Girls. The Bass players that inspire me and I look up too are Eric from Bloodlined Calligraphy, Cliff Burton (of course I would say him, he was in Metallica.), uh.. the bassist from Between the Buried and me, and this dude on you-tube who was playing like a 12 string bass (he was nuts playing the mario theme song).

Being in A Perfect Failure has been pretty rocking and we are gonna keep bringing it!

Joshbob

Mother fuckin Joshbob, straight out of muckerfuckin Y-town, bone and rain still living in a 4-way window pane. All day long I’m still the same. Knew them later, see you then. To everyone, love anyway. To who you know, don’t say anything. Then lets sit back and impale thinking pain. So I think I once had someday, something to say, but it seems today the world is the same. I myself, I lived in the same time and for much to long so as to time I say ado. To bring me along something new.

Son to a world smarter than need be. Went to Willow Run and Ypsilanti school shit. Lived from place to place, all in the same place. I’ve gotten a lot from this city and a lot is good enough for me. Joshbob is full of love for the filth and democracy for his home land. Every day is a chance to be not yesterday. Joshbob has been skateboarding since the age of 3 and is still truckin. He started playing guitar in 9th grade, but the bass found his heart at the age of 18. Inspired by the likes of Matt Freeman from Rancid, OP Ivy, the dude from Korn and all the love for Chocking Victim and Loc all that good shit from metal to punk. If what’s right you should know, what’s wrong? Mother fuckin pimpin ass big motherfuckin pimpin works at the strip club so don’t be a ball bustin bitch. And then there were bands. Joshbob as played in many bands such as One More Day and still runs with Skunk Pusher. Mostly influenced on more of the hardcore punk style he would like to explore some heavier darker shit. Hope to reminded you of free days before and long ones to come.

Brian

As long as I can remember there have been guitars around me. Most people in my family play an instrument, mostly guitar. I started playing acoustic guitar when I was about ten years old. So naturally, my passion for music mainly lies in acoustic guitar. I started playing electric guitar when I was about fourteen years old.

Most of my influence in metal probably comes from bands like: As I Lay Dying, From Autumn to Ashes, Silverstein, ect.

About a year after I started writing heavier music I got together with Anthony (lead guitar) and formed a band. At first we decided to make a pop punk band as a joke. Then we slowly started to realize that we made a good team for writing music and got a drummer. Thus A Perfect Failure was born…
